Saving Lives, Making Friends

Berea ARF is a no-time-limit animal rescue providing shelter, love and care for stray and homeless animals for as long as it takes to place them into forever homes.

We receive no federal or municipal funding; we’re supported solely through adoptions, fundraisers and donations from generous supporters.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Berea ARF is currently closed to the public until further notice due to the coronavirus crisis.

Berea ARF is deeply committed to protecting volunteers, staff and supporters of our organization by maintaining the highest possible safety measures and promoting responsible behavior in an effort to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to close the shelter to the public until further notice. Beginning on Friday, March 20, potential adopters may visit animals by appointment only.  We believe it is in the best interest of our volunteers, staff and the public to limit traffic within the close confines of our buildings. This will enable our volunteers and staff to more safely and easily provide the care and exercise our animals need.

Appointments will be made on a limited basis, and we ask that facial coverings are worn inside our buildings. If there is a dog you are interested in adopting, please contact Amy at arfsheltermanagement@gmail.com, or call the shelter at 440-234-2034 and leave a message. If there is a cat you’d like to visit, contact Pat at 440-223-1275 or arfcats@gmail.com.

Thank you for your understanding in this unprecedented and difficult time.

Mission Statement: Provide compassionate, quality care for companion animals in need with no time limit on placement into forever  homes.

Berea Animal Rescue Friends is a no-time-limit animal shelter in operation since 1987, which rescues stray and homeless companion animals, provides medical care, spay/neuter, vaccinations and housing, and prepares animals for adoption into loving homes.

Our 300-plus volunteers and small staff work tirelessly to place nearly 1,000 animals into forever homes each year to give them the chance at happiness they deserve.

New Shelter Update

We’re almost there!  Only $400,000 needs to be raised to complete initial fundraising for ARF’s new shelter.   Construction of the facility is underway on our 16 acres of beautiful land in Columbia Township with a Grand Opening anticipated in late spring of this year.  Your help is still needed to make our new shelter a reality!

Perfect Memorial for Your Loved One

Now available – Paver Bricks are a perfect and lasting way to support the new shelter fund and memorialize your family name or loved one. We’re now taking orders for these custom-imprinted pavers, which will be displayed in a special area at our new facility for all to see.
