Animal Admission Policies
Berea ARF accepts most stray animals found within the City of Berea. If you have found a stray animal in another city, please call that city’s Animal Control Officer or Police Department non-emergency number for assistance.
For strays found within Berea limits, Berea residents can bring the animal to the shelter facility, located at 10015 E. River Road in Columbia Twp. between the hours of 8:00 am and 7:00 pm. You must bring proof of residency for ARF to accept the animal directly.
For non-residents of Berea with stray animals found within Berea, please follow these guidelines:
*Please note: Neither Berea ARF nor the City of Berea are able to accept feral cats.
As space and resources allow, Berea ARF will accept Owner Surrenders of non-aggressive pets from owners in Berea and surrounding communities who are no longer able to keep them.
It is mandatory that you make an appointment to bring your pet in for surrender consideration. Berea ARF is not required to accept pets, and may decline to accept your pet at our discretion. Before being accepted, all animals will receive medical and behavioral testing.
To schedule an appointment, call the main ARF number at 440-234-2034 and leave a detailed message. The appropriate individual will return your call.
Owners should bring: The animal’s vaccine and medical history, Any medications prescribed to the animal, A surrender fee of $25 for cats / $50 for dogs, You may bring a favorite blanket or toy to ease the transition.
