| 2009 Pet Calendar | When: Friday Feb 29th, 2008 | | Digest: The ARF "2009 Pet Calendar" fundraising event is now underway! | |

Our popular calendar features pictures of pets sent in by the community, and all pictures will appear in the calendar! We also have a contest to determine the "best of" pictures, which will appear as the 12, larger, top-half images of the calendar.
The cost of the calendar with the pet's picture shown is $13.50, which includes shipping and handling. All hard-copy photographs, plus the $13.50 fee, should be sent to Corky Wilson, 24615 Thicket Ln., Olmsted Falls, OH 44138. The name and address of the entrant and the name of the pet must be included. Entrants are encouraged to send images that feature the pet without people in the picture.

ARF is also encouraging local businesses to purchase ad space in the 2008 Pet Calendar. There are varous ad sizes available:
A monthly ad (2" x 2 1/2") will be visible for the entire month for only $75. There is space available for 3 ads per page, so if you reply early you can pick the month you would like your ad to appear.
Our Animal Lovers ad page is at the back of the calendar. Your business card size ad is only $50.
Our Animal Lovers Directory is a convenient tear off page for reference year-round. List your business name address and phone for only $25.
Or, combine the monthly ad and the directory for $85. Combine the Animal Lovers ad page and Animal Lovers Directory for only $60.
The deadline for pet pictures and advertisements is July 31, 2008. All calendars will be mailed. All proceeds generated from the event will benefit the animals at the shelter, so get your entry in today!

Have an old car you don't know what to do with? Donate it to the Berea Animal Rescue, and all proceeds (less towing fees) will benefit the shelter! It doesn't matter what condition the car is in or whether it is operating or not—volunteer Dean Ollar will find a home for it!
If you have an old car you would like to donate, please contact Dean at 216-408-7777 or via email at dean@bestrex.com. If the vehicle does not need to be towed, the vehicle may be dropped off at Westide Auto Brokers, Inc., 20439 First Ave., Middleburg Hts. You must let Dean know the vehicle's proceeds are to be donated to the Berea Animal Rescue. Thanks, and we hope to see your 'ol junker soon!

| Cell Phone / Ink Cartridge Fundraiser | | Digest: Calling All Dead Cellphones! | |

Another great way to make a donation to the Berea Animal Rescue Fund is to give us your old cell phones, empty ink cartridges, and aluminum cans--and we'll turn them into cash for to help the animals at the shelter! Just drop off your old, unwanted cell phones and empty ink cartridges (no Epson inkjet cartridges please, as they have no print head) any time at the shelter or Berea Post Office. Aluminum cans must be dropped off at the shelter (anytime)--there are collection bins on the east side of the brick building.

Your pet is special—why not add a special touch to your favorite flowerbed, walkway or patio with a molded heart or paw print inscribed with your pet’s name? Or how about a short poem or beloved phrase using our "poetry stones"? We now have wonderful “monogrammed” hearts, paw prints, and ”poetry stones” to honor your pet whether your best friend is still with you or you wish to cherish a memory. And best of all, 100% of all proceeds go into special funds for animals with special medical needs or who need behavioral therapy. The hearts measure 12” across - cost is $20 (see photo below) The paw prints measure 9” across - cost is $8 with no inscription, $15 inscribed. (see photo below) Each "poetry stone" can be inscribed with one word of any length for $4. Poetry stones containing only one or two letters, such as the words “am”, “I”, “or” and so on are free. All orders must be pre-paid and please allow at least 3 weeks for orders to be completed. All orders must be picked up at the shelter or at the Barking Cat Retail store. You will be notified when your order is ready.

| Sponsor a Cage | | Digest: Looking for a neat way to make a donation? Then consider sponsoring a cage for our rescued animals! | |
|
Now you can sponsor a cage for our rescued dogs and cats for a three-month period for only $50! This is a great way to feel a more personal connection to the animals themselves, rather than making a conventional donation. All funds will go into our operating budget which pays for the cost of food, supplies, housing and health care. We will make up a nice sign with your name and sponsorship period and hang it on one of the cages you will be sponsoring at the shelter. There may be one animal residing in that cage for the entire sponsorship quarter or several, due to adoptions or a need to switch animals from one cage to another. If you are interested in a longer sponsorship period, consider sponsoring one of our long-term special needs cats or just sign up for more than one quarter. Sponsorships also make great alternative gifts for the person who has everything! Please see our downloadable registration form for more details.
Please note: Many of our cats live in the "free-roaming" room and so do not have cages. In that case, the sponsor's name will be posted on a special sponsorship board in the shelter.
